Deunan Knute »

About The Kit »

Two years later I decided to finish the horrible recast of Deunan from Appleseed that I aquired from HobbyFan. Just a recommendation... avoid their crap at all costs. Everything I got from them has been junk.

After much clean-up, reconstruction, and whatnot I finally decided to paint her up. Instead of my original plan which was to airbrush all the shading, I decided to go with a more traditional approach and use oil paint. This allowed me to get more of a Masamune Shirow cover art feel than airbrushing would had given me. It also allowed me to do some great discoloration and weathering on her battlesuit.

You can see where there's a lot of rough cast patches on her in the pics. This is doe to the cast and not the painting. I cleaned up a lot, but when I originally did the work on her I didn't know as much as I do now so wasn't comfortable doing sone of the resculpting that was needed. If I were to do another, I'd dremel out just about every indent and crevase since they're all very rough and resculpt those parts with Magic Sculpt.

I'd go on about what I did to Deunan, but instead I did a detailed/documented in-progress page. Click here to see it.
